Fall is here, and we are back to school, but that’s no reason to get stuck in a rut! Now is a great time to start planning your next vacation – give yourselves and the kids something to look forward to. Planning family vacations has its own wrinkles. Educational, but still fun. Good food that kids will eat, and parents will enjoy. Get them off their phones and into nature. A [F]Uncruise is the perfect trip for families with kids aged 8 and up.

It’s not a cruise, it’s an adventure – and adventures make the best family vacations! Small ships take you to places you can’t reach any other way. No crowds. No gimmicky shopping or tourist trap “things to see in …”. Get into nature. Put on your borrowed “Alaskan sneakers” (rubber boots) and hike, set out in a tandem kayak, take a whale-watching skiff ride. Explore under rocks and deep in temperate rain forests. Kiss a banana slug (no, really, it’s a thing!). Hold glacial ice in your own hands.

Listen to the cry of an eagle. Breaching whales, floating otters, diving puffins, bears fishing for salmon. There is so much to see. Eat gourmet farm to table meals that you can hardly believe came out of something as tight as a boat’s galley. (But yes, simpler options are always available for picky eaters!) Sleep in your cozy cabins and get up to do it all again tomorrow.

Sounds great, but you have questions. Join our UnCruise Family Discoveries webinar on September 29, 11am Pacific, to learn all about traveling with families on an UnCruise. Hosted by Director of Strategic Partnerships Julie Quarry, we will have plenty of time for all your Q&A. But don’t just take our word for it. Hear from travel expert Eileen Ogintz. She’s the author of more than 12 kid’s travel guides, and her award-winning syndicated column Taking the Kids” is a great resource focused on family travel from her three decades of writing on the subject.

Perhaps best of all, listen to and ask questions of a family that recently traveled on an UnCruise Adventure themselves. Get all the ins and outs of their week in Alaska. What was the coolest thing they saw? What were their cabins like? Was it worth being away from wifi for a week?
