This 7-night land adventure offers volcano hikes, ziplining, white-water rafting, hot spring soaks, and wildlife encounters across some of Costa Rica’s most beautiful national parks and regions. With a dedicated naturalist guide, private transportation, and stays at authentic local hotels, you’ll experience the country’s nature and culture from the inside out. This adventure-packed journey through rainforests, cloud forests, and volcanic landscapes is the perfect pre- or post-cruise extension.

Day-by-day Details

Day 1

Arrival - Rincon de la Vieja National Park

Arrive at Liberia International Airport, where you’ll be greeted by your private bilingual guide and driver for a transfer to Rincon de la Vieja. After checking in at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin, enjoy an orientation briefing with your guide to review the upcoming activities and ask questions. Take time to relax and settle in before dinner.

Day 2

Adventure Day at Hacienda Guachipelin & Volcano Hike

Start your day with a hike on Las Pailas trail in Rincon de la Vieja National Park to see boiling mud pools, volcanic activity, and diverse wildlife. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the Hacienda restaurant. In the afternoon, you’ll enjoy an adventure pass at Hacienda Guachipelin. Choose from a variety of activities including zip-lining, rappelling, river tubing on the Rio Negro, horseback riding, and relaxing in volcanic hot springs and mud baths. You are also welcome to explore the property’s many trails or simply relax at the lodge.

Day 3

Oropéndola Waterfall, Cooking Class & Arenal Observatory

Begin your day with a delicious breakfast and a scenic hike through the forest to Oropéndola Waterfall. Enjoy a refreshing swim in its crystal-clear turquoise pool. Later, enjoy a hands-on cooking class at El Fogón de Chela, learning traditional Costa Rican recipes and savoring a farm-to-table meal. Enjoy a private motorcoach transfer to the Arenal area. In the afternoon, explore Arenal Observatory Lodge’s gardens, trails, and hanging bridges, with opportunities to spot monkeys, hummingbirds, and other wildlife.

Day 4

Arenal Nature Trails, Organic Farm & Hot Springs

Spend the morning hiking Arenal Observatory’s trails and hanging bridges, enjoying views of the volcano and Lake Arenal. Visit Arenal Vida Campesina Organic Farm for a cultural experience and tortilla-making demonstration during lunch. End the day with a relaxing soak at Ecotermales Hot Springs, surrounded by lush tropical gardens.

Day 5

Sarapiqui River Rafting & Night Wildlife Tour

Embark on a thrilling white-water rafting adventure on the Sarapiqui River (Class II–III rapids), with tropical fruit snacks and a riverside lunch. In the afternoon, return to Arenal Observatory for a guided nature walk. After dinner, join a night tour to search for nocturnal wildlife such as frogs, bats, and kinkajous in the rainforest.

Day 6

Monteverde Cloud Forest & Sunset at Cerro Pinocho

Enjoy a transfer with beautiful views up to the emerald-green hills of Monteverde, where cool mist and lush forest set the tone for the day. Explore the famous Cloud Forest Reserve with your naturalist guide, keeping an eye out for quetzals and other hard-to-spot species along the quiet trails. Later, continue to Cerro Pinocho for wide-open Pacific views and a sunset you won’t forget.

Day 7

Curicancha Reserve & Coffee, Chocolate & Night Tour

Enjoy a guided walk through Curicancha Wildlife Refuge, known for its rich biodiversity and hidden trails. Later, experience Costa Rica’s culture with a coffee and chocolate tour, followed by a night walk to observe nocturnal creatures like sloths and owls.

Day 8

Departure - Flamingo Marina

After breakfast, transfer to Flamingo Marina in Guanacaste to board your UnCruise Adventures ship. Those heading home after a post-trip extension will be dropped off at the Liberia Airport. Stop for lunch en route before concluding your land itinerary.
