Day-by-day Details

Day 1

Arrival – Rincon de la Vieja National Park

Arrive at Liberia International Airport, where you’ll be greeted by your private bilingual guide and driver for a transfer to Rincon de la Vieja. After checking in at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin, enjoy an orientation briefing with your guide to review the upcoming activities and ask questions. Take time to relax and settle in before dinner.

Day 2

Rincon de la Vieja National Park

Choose your own adventure at Hacienda Guachipelin. For the most adventurous, begin your day with a horseback ride to the river for a morning of tubing. Next, soar through the canopy on a zipline before rappelling into a canyon. Or simply take a bus transfer to the river to enjoy a scenic float, guided nature walks, and a soak in the hot springs. There's something for everyone today. Refuel with a delicious lunch at the Hacienda restaurant before spending the afternoon exploring Las Pailas Trail in Rincon de la Vieja National Park, home to bubbling mud pools, volcanic activity, and abundant wildlife. End your day by relaxing in the soothing hot springs. 

Note: River tubing and ziplining have a minimum age of 8. Tubing has a minimum height of 140 cm (55 inches).

Day 3

Oropéndola Waterfall, Cooking Class, & Arenal Observatory

Begin your day with a delicious breakfast and a scenic hike through the forest to Oropéndola Waterfall. Enjoy a refreshing swim in its crystal-clear turquoise pool. Later, enjoy a hands-on cooking class at El Fogón de Chela, learning traditional Costa Rican recipes and savoring a farm-to-table meal. Enjoy a private motorcoach transfer to the Arenal area. In the afternoon, explore Arenal Observatory Lodge’s gardens, trails, and hanging bridges, with opportunities to spot monkeys, hummingbirds, and other wildlife.

Day 4

Arenal Nature Trails, Organic Farm & Hot Springs

Spend the morning hiking Arenal Observatory’s trails and hanging bridges, enjoying views of the volcano and Lake Arenal. Visit Arenal Vida Campesina Organic Farm for a cultural experience and tortilla-making demonstration during lunch. End the day with a relaxing soak at Ecotermales Hot Springs, surrounded by lush tropical gardens.

Day 5

Sarapiqui River Rafting & Night Wildlife Tour

Enjoy the beautiful Sarapiqui River. An optional guided raft tour will take you through Class II and III rapids, provisioned with tropical fruit snacks and followed by lunch. In the afternoon, return to Arenal Observatory for relaxation or exploration time. After dinner, join a night tour to search for nocturnal wildlife such as frogs, bats, and kinkajous in the rainforest.

Day 6

Monteverde Cloud Forest & Sunset at Cerro Pinocho

Enjoy a transfer with beautiful views up to the emerald-green hills of Monteverde, where cool mist and lush forest set the tone for the day. Explore the famous Cloud Forest Reserve with your naturalist guide, keeping an eye out for quetzals and other hard-to-spot species along the quiet trails. Later, continue to Cerro Pinocho for wide-open Pacific views and a sunset you won’t forget.

Day 7

Curicancha Reserve & Coffee, Chocolate & Night Tour

Enjoy a guided walk through Curicancha Wildlife Refuge, known for its rich biodiversity and hidden trails. Later, experience Costa Rica’s culture with a coffee and chocolate tour, followed by a night walk to observe nocturnal creatures like sloths and owls.

Day 8

Flamingo Marina

Murciélago Bay

Day 10

Curú Wildlife Refuge

Isla San Lucas National Park and Puntarenas
