This 7-night land adventure offers volcanic vistas, ziplining, white-water rafting, hot spring soaks, and wildlife encounters across some of Costa Rica’s most beautiful national parks and regions. With a dedicated naturalist guide, private transportation, and stays at authentic local hotels, you’ll experience the country’s nature and culture from the inside out. This adventure-packed journey through rainforests, cloud forests, and volcanic landscapes is the perfect pre- or post-cruise extension.

Day-by-day Details

Day 1

Arrival - Rincon de la Vieja National Park

Arrive at Liberia International Airport, where you’ll be greeted by your private bilingual guide and driver for a transfer to Rincon de la Vieja. After checking in at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin, enjoy an orientation briefing with your guide to review the upcoming activities and ask questions. Take time to relax and settle in before dinner.

Day 2

Rincon de la Vieja National Park

Choose your own adventure at Hacienda Guachipelin. For wildlife lovers, a guided hike will take you to Las Chorreras Waterfall in the dry tropical forest. Or for the most adventurous, begin your day with a morning of tubing down a scenic jungle river and soar through the canopy on a zipline before rappelling down into a canyon. There's something for everyone today. Refuel with a delicious lunch at the Hacienda restaurant before spending the afternoon exploring Las Pailas Trail in Rincon de la Vieja National Park, home to bubbling mud pools, volcanic activity, and abundant wildlife. End your day with a short hike to Oropendola waterfall and a relaxing soak in the nearby hot springs.

Note: River tubing and ziplining have a minimum age of 8. Tubing has a minimum height of 140 cm (55 inches).

Day 3

Farm Visit, Cooking Class & Arenal Observatory

Begin your day with a delicious breakfastbefore a scenic drive in a private motorcoach to the Arenal area. Later, enjoy a hands-on cooking class at El Fogón de Chela, learning traditional Costa Rican recipes and savoring a farm-to-table meal. In the afternoon, explore the Arenal Observatory Lodge gardens, trails, and hanging bridges, with opportunities to spot monkeys, hummingbirds, and other wildlife.

Day 4

Arenal Nature Trails, Sloth Sanctuary & Hot Springs

Spend the morning hiking Arenal Observatory’s trails and hanging bridges, enjoying views of the volcano and Lake Arenal. For lunch, travel to the Mariolas Sanctuary for a traditional meal and opportunity to spot sloths, poison dart frogs, and bats in this private reserve. End the day with a relaxing soak at Ecotermales Hot Springs, surrounded by lush tropical gardens.

Day 5

Sarapiqui River Rafting & Night Wildlife Tour

Enjoy the beautiful Sarapiqui River. A guided raft tour will take you through Class II and III rapids or join your guide for a riverside hike in the tropical rainforest. After lunch, return to Arenal Observatory for relaxation or exploration time. After dinner, join a night tour to search for nocturnal wildlife such as frogs, bats, and kinkajous in the rainforest.

Day 6

Monteverde Cloud Forest, Coffee, Chocolate & Night Tour

For early risers, seize one last chance to experience Arenal’s world-class birdlife. After breakfast, enjoy a transfer with beautiful views up to the emerald-green hills of Monteverde. Take some time to relax and explore Santa Elena Town. Be immersed in Costa Rica’s culture with a chocolate and coffee tour, followed by a night walk to observe nocturnal creatures like sloths and owls.

Day 7

Curicancha Reserve, Sky Walk Hanging Bridges & Sunset at Cerro Pinocho

Enjoy a guided walk through Curicancha Wildlife Refuge, known for its rich biodiversity and hidden trails. Later, head to the Monteverde forest canopy on the Sky Walk Hanging Bridges. Weather permitting, a spectacular sunset at Cerro Pinocho awaits you, with a final celebratory dinner back at the hotel.

Day 8

Departure - Flamingo Marina

After breakfast, transfer to Flamingo Marina in Guanacaste to board your UnCruise Adventures ship. Those heading home after a post-trip extension will be dropped off at the Liberia Airport. Stop for a coastal lunch en route before concluding your land itinerary.
