From the Field – The Polar Plunge
By Megan Moran – Expedition Team Leader
The Polar Plunge. It's our weekly opportunity to experience the icy waters of Alaska up close and personal.
As you stand on the deck of the ship, a mesmerizing scene unfolds before your eyes. The stunning backdrop of Alaska's majestic landscapes creates a dramatic contrast to the brave souls ready to take the plunge. You watch as people gather, anticipation and excitement radiating from their faces. The air is thick with nervous energy as they prepare to leap.
And then, with a burst of courage, they soar through the air, bodies gracefully diving into the icy waters. The sight of your fellow passengers emerging from the water, their skin flushed and alive, surrounded by floating ice, is a testament to the raw power and beauty of Alaska.
It's a visual spectacle that leaves you in awe of nature's wonders and the indomitable spirit of those taking part in this icy adventure.
And now, it's your turn. As you leap off the boat and plunge into the icy depths you might find yourself questioning the wisdom of your decision but no matter how cold you are in the moment you won’t regret it. It is an integral activity on every Alaska itinerary, whether you experience it yourself or as a spectator, it is a fun time for everyone.
There is nothing more invigorating and refreshing than immersing yourself in chilly waters of Alaska
